Our Youth
Development and Leadership Programs provide experiential learning experiences for youth to develop their personal leadership qualities through teamwork, community participation, outdoor adventure, and helping others. These programs are focused regionally in Nova Scotia, and provide us with the direct relationships with young people to continue to enhance our understanding on how to best serve them.
HeartWood offers many programs each year for youth participants. We offer wilderness adventures, peer-team support, mentoring, meaningful service in communities, and leadership education. Some of our past programs include:
- Youth Leadership Programs
- Youth Facilitation Training
- Service Learning Projects
- Participatory Action Research
- Wilderness and Outdoor Programs
Leaders of Today (LOT) Network
During the last year, HeartWood has coordinated the Leaders of Today (LOT) Network with the support of the NS Child & Strategy. The LOT Network has three main purposes:
- To inform the NS Child & Youth Strategy
- To amplify youth voice
- To create a place of intercultural learning between youth and government
Currently its primary tool to facilitate these is the annual LOT Summit which happens in the fall of each year. For more information, contact Isabelle at isabelle@heartwood.ns.ca. |
